Public Speaking Protocol

The Parish Council, at its meeting on 21 January 2008, has adopted a public speaking protocol that will allow members of the public to make representation, answer questions and give evidence during council meetings about items that are on the agenda of the meeting. This right also extends to councillors with a prejudicial interest about an agenda item and thus gives the councillor the right to add to the meeting. Councillors taking up the right must leave the meeting after they have made their representation.

The Parish Council also decided to continue to suspend council meetings to allow members of the public to raise new issues, although council would not be able to make any decisions at the time about the new items due to statutory restrictions.

Where minutes are published for meetings these are published as soon as possible after any given meeting, to provide information for residents. However, minutes of the Parish Council and its committees need to be ratified at the following, respective meetings. Should there be changes to any minutes then an amended version will be published.
