Village Fete is Back!

After an absence of 18 years a village fete is to return to Genfield. The fete will be held on Ellis Park on 11 September 2010, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Nearly 30 Glenfield organisations have got together to bring back the fete and up to 40 stalls are expected. There will be a dancing display and, subject to operational requirements, a display by the Leicestershire Constabulary Police Dog Team. Traditional games and competitions are to be held, so there may be an chance to display your talent with an "egg and spoon".

All of the stalls will be run by the Glenfield organisations and all profits are for these groups, so this is an opportunity for you to support the village and also to find out about the wealth of groups that offer an array of local facilities. There will also be an opportunity to have your say about future developments in Glenfield.

Entrance is free, so why not come along and have a fun afternoon.

Community Champions Required

Community champions are being sought to join the fight against environmental crime.

Blaby District Council is looking for volunteer street wardens to monitor cleanliness in their area and report back any problems they come across whilst out and about. The wardens will be asked to look out for litter, graffiti, dog fouling and fly-tipping.

Blaby District Council will organise regular events for the volunteers to maintain interest and build a sense of community spirit.

Glenfield Parish Council has offered its full support to this initiative.

For further information contact Jon Wells at Blaby District Council, telephone number 0116 272 7555.
